The Triumphal Entry Is Choreographed in Advance
Jesus arranged the Triumphal Entry in advance — sending disciples ahead for a specific animal with a specific response to any challenge.
Matthew 21:1–7, Mark 11:1–7, Luke 19:29–35: Jesus sends two disciples ahead to find a donkey (and in Matthew, a colt also). He gives specific instructions: 'If any man say aught unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.' The disciples find the animal exactly as described and give the exact response. The Triumphal Entry, which appeared to the crowd as a spontaneous recognition, was arranged beforehand. John 12:14 compresses the account and omits the preparatory sending. The pre-arrangement is explicit in the Synoptics.
